It is one of the richest biodiversity areas in the western Ghats. There are a number of species includinglion tailed macque, rare birds, Indian Shag (phalacrocorase fuscicollis), Little Cormorant (Phalacrocorax Niger), Little Green Heron (Ardeola striatus ), and Pond Heron (Ardeola grayii) .
